Dumped over email?? I'm such a mess?

I have never been so heartbroken in my life, my boyfriend of 16 months dumped me over email while he was at work saying "well then its over" I have been crying hysterically the past three hours, I asked him to call me, he said maybe. I gave him my virginity this summer and I am so frightened I will end up regretting the beautiful love we shared. I'm only 19 but it does feel like my life is over and I don't know what to do...he was such a wonderful boyfriend and we were so perfect. Things have been rough for him lately with his job and living situation but I have been nothing but supportive...I cannot believe he would do this to me...what can I do.,.
